For the second year in a row, Vesko is our Power Play Chief Youth Courage Award recipient! Vesko initially came to Power Play when he was facing some personal struggles. He was feeling lonely and was searching for friendship and connection. His mother was also struggling with a medical issue at the time which was having an impact on Vesko.

Since joining Power Play, Vesko has come out of his shell and has shown incredible growth in his skating ability. He has made a ton of new friends on and off the ice and truly values the time he gets to spend with the CPS officers. At home, Vesko’s mother has also seen positive changes in him. His now constant smile brings hers so much joy and she loves seeing Vesko thrive as happy, resilient young boy.

Since being crowned last year, Vesko has continued to grow and improve his hockey skills while also taking an interest in gymnastics. Over the summer, Vesko taught himself to flyfish by watching YouTube videos online and it has now become one of his favourite hobbies! Ultimately, Power Play has shown Vesko that he can achieve anything he puts his mind to – and we can’t wait to see what comes next for him.
